Mind Health Psychology
About Me
Hello, my name is Dr Tamara Vaughan, of Mind Health Psychology. I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS).
In the past, I have worked extensively facilitating therapeutic groups, offering assessments and individual therapy sessions in the private sector, NHS, charities and community-based settings. At present, in addition to my private practice where I offer individual counselling and psychological therapy, I work as a Counselling Psychologist in secondary care for the NHS and as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Roehampton.
I am passionate about people’s ‘mind health’; whether that be working together to help you recover from psychological, emotional and relational difficulties or, ensuring that you are maintaining your general psychological well-being.
Tamara has been an excellent therapist. She has supported me from my first session and used a variety of techniques to best suit my needs. It has been a pleasure working with her.

My Approach
For many of us, the decision to come to therapy can be a daunting one. Sometimes, we have been feeling overwhelmed, hopeless or distressed for a long time and although we think we know what the problem is, we are unsure about how to address it. Alternatively, we may have simply been living with a sense that something isn’t quite right and not know where to begin.
Whatever your reasons for coming to therapy, I will always offer a warm, non-judgemental and compassionate therapeutic space in which you can talk about your experiences openly.
Drawing on my skills and expertise in psychodynamic, humanistic and cognitive behavioural therapies, I will offer flexible and bespoke support that allows you to gain a greater insight into your specific and individual difficulties
We will work collaboratively to ensure that your therapeutic needs and goals are always being met so that you can feel genuinely heard and empowered throughout the process.

I offer individual sessions in Waterloo.
All sessions are 50 minutes (a ‘therapeutic hour’) and take place once weekly. Our first session will be an initial consultation and will act as an opportunity for me to gather some more information about you and what you're hoping to gain from therapy; it will also be a chance for you to make a decision about whether you feel I am the right therapist for you.
The fee for individual sessions is £100, payable by cash or debit card (*) at the appointment. If you wish to pay for your counselling sessions in advance, I offer a 10% discount when a block of six sessions is purchased.
